Abrasive Wheels Training Course

This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skill to help them safely understand the hazards and dangers of working with abrasive wheels. This course also provides participants with the necessary expertise and skills to Be able to choose the appropriate wheel or cutting disc for any given task and mount abrasive wheels correctly. 


The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Applications), Regulations 2016 state that an employer shall not authorise an employee to operate Abrasive Wheels unless that employee has been trained and instructed in accordance with Schedule 14 and is competent to mount the wheel.

  • Safe mounting of the abrasive wheel 


Learning Outcomes

  • Safely store and identify abrasive wheels.
  • Be able to select the appropriate wheel use.
  • Be able to inspect and recognize damaged wheels.
  • Be able to mount an abrasive wheel.
  • Understand the hazards and risks when using abrasive wheels.


Who Should Attend

This abrasive wheel’s training course is legally required for all those who are involved in the purchase & selection, storage & handling, mounting, dressing, and use of abrasive wheels. This includes either fixed (e.g. Bench grinders or polishers) or portable (e.g. angle grinders) abrasive wheels.


Certification & Assessment

To receive certification all learners must successfully complete both the theory 50% and practical 50% components of the course. 


A certificate From Endrim Safety Training will be valid for three years from date of issue.

 Classroom based presentation with a practical demonstration & practice by learners.
